CPSC, The Body Shop U.S. Announce Recall of Scented Jewel Candles
In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), the Body Shop, of WakeForest, N.C., is recalling approximately 25,000 scented"Jewel" candles. The glass pots of these candles can explodeor break, causing possible cuts to nearby consumers, andposing a fire hazard. The outer decorative covering of thesepots can melt or catch fire.

CPSC, Firms Announce Recalls of Extension Cords and Weight Benches
Tools Exchange Inc., of Lynwood, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 2,760 outdoor extension cords. The cords have undersized wires, lack overcurrent protection and have reverse polarity receptacles that allow plugs to be incorrectly inserted, presenting fire, shock and electrocution hazards. Spectrum Fitness, of Loveland, Ohio, is recalling 350 Multi-Purpose Weight Benches, model number NG-14 N. The benches have a metal hinge that can break causing a sudden shift of the bench. The shift can cause the user to lose control of weights being lifted and result in injury.

CPSC, Wellmax Announce Recall of Extension Cords
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), Wellmax International Inc., of Long Beach, Calif., is voluntarily recalling nearly 1 million extension cords. The cords have undersized wires and reverse polarity receptacles that allow plugs to be incorrectly inserted, presenting fire, shock and electrocution hazards to consumers.

CPSC, Coast Guard and Trojan Battery Co. Announce Recall of Marine-Type Batteries
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer ProductSafety Commission (CPSC) and the U.S. Coast Guard, Trojan BatteryCo., of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., is recalling approximately11,000 marine-type batteries, which also can be used as a mobilehome or recreational vehicle auxilary power source. Thesebatteries could have a cracked negative terminal post that couldlead to internal sparking and possible explosion. An explodingbattery can result in chemical and thermal burns, and lacerationsto people in the area.

CPSC, Cosco Announce Recall to Replace Crib Mattresses
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cosco Inc., of Columbus, Ind., is recalling about 62,000 mattresses sold with tubular metal cribs. When a baby stands up in the crib, the mattress can compress and be pushed between the bars on the crib's platform. The baby can slip between the bars on the crib's platform and become entrapped.

CPSC, Cosco Announce Recall to Repair Two WaysTM Tandem Strollers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cosco Inc., of Columbus, Ind., is recalling about 57,000 GeobyTM Two WaysTM tandem strollers for in-home repair. The plastic locks on the folding mechanisms can break during use, causing the strollers to suddenly collapse. Ifstrollers collapse, babies can suffer injuries from the fall, including head injuries from hitting concrete sidewalks. The child's arms, hands or fingers can be cut if they are onthe locking mechanism when the stroller collapses.

CPSC, Rheem Manufacturing Announce Recall to Repair Electric Furnaces and Air Handlers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), Rheem Manufacturing Co., of Fort Smith, Ark., is recalling about 135,000 electric furnaces and air handlers for repair. The heating elements in the electric furnaces and air handlers can disintegrate, and expel small particles of molten metal through the duct system and into the living area of the residence. The molten metal particles can ignite nearby combustibles, presenting a fire hazard to consumers.

CPSC, Kodak Announce Recall of AC Adapters for Digital Cameras
In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Eastman Kodak Company, ofRochester, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling 120,000 ACadapters for use with certain Kodak digital cameras. Whenthe connector plug of the AC adapter is not fully insertedin the camera, the batteries in the camera can overheat to ahigh temperature. This can cause the batteries to leak acidand explode, possibly causing thermal and chemical burns orlacerations to consumers.

In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Ace Hardware Corp., of OakBrook, Ill., is recalling approximately 403,000 Ace butane,multipurpose lighters. These lighters can leak excessbutane when they are in use, causing an unexpected flashbackor sudden burst of flame. This presents a risk of burns toconsumers and unintentional fires can occur.

In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Arctic Cat Inc., of ThiefRiver Falls, Minn., is recalling about 11,500 snowmobiles.These 1999-model snowmobiles could have faulty driveclutches due to the use of a contaminated alloy inmanufacturing. If the clutch sheave fails, broken piecescould strike consumers, causing lacerations or bruises.
