CPSC, Haro Bicycle Corp. Announce Recall of Bicycles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Haro Bicycle Corp., of Vista, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 1,100 BMX freestyle bicycles. The length of the crank arm in the 2003 model fails to allow sufficient space between the rider's foot and the front wheel, when the front wheel is turned backwards. The rider's foot could come in contact with the front wheel, causing the rider to lose control, fall and possibly suffer serious injury.

CPSC, Leifheit International USA Announce Recall of Apple Slicer/Corer
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Leifheit International USA Inc., of Melville, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 31,000 apple slicers/corers. The cutting blade can separate from the center-coring ring during use causing cuts to consumers' hands and fingers.

CPSC, Babyliss Pro Announce Recall of Hairdryers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Babyliss Pro, of Stamford, Conn., is voluntarily recalling about 23,000 hairdryers. The hairdryers do not have an immersion protection device on the power cord and could present a serious electrocution hazard if exposed to water.

CPSC, Quixtar Inc. Announce Recall of HOP SHING Juice Extractors
Quixtar Inc., of Ada, Mich., is voluntarily recalling 58 juice extractors. The juice extractors are white and measure approximately 12-inches high, 6-inches wide and 10-inches deep. Located on the bottom of the unit is the manufacturing and model information indicated as: "HOP SHING, Juice Extractor, JA-388." Quixtar Inc. sold the juice extractors on its membership-only web site from January 2002 through March 2002 for about $60. They were manufactured in China.

CPSC, Todson Inc. Announce Recall of Bicycle Tire Floor Pumps
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Todson Inc., of Foxboro, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 10,000 floor pumps, which are used for bicycle tires. The pressure gauge lens can separate from the pump and strike a consumer, causing injury.

CPSC, Polaris Industries Inc. Recall Snowmobiles
Polaris Industries Inc. of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 2,200 snowmobiles. Polaris model year 2002 PRO X snowmobiles with model numbers S02NX4CS (2002 440 Pro X Liquid), S02NX4CSR (2002 440 Rolling Chassis), S02NX4FS (2002 440 Pro X Fan), S02NX6ES (2002 600 Pro X), P03NX4FS (2003 440 Pro X Fan, pilot), PO3NX6ES (2003 600 Pro X, pilot) are part of this recall. The snowmobiles have red hoods and nose pans with white and blue graphics. The model number can be found on the right side of the tunnel, where the right foot is placed when seated on the snowmobile. Polaris dealers sold these snowmobiles in the Midwest from September 2001 through March 2002 for between $6000 and $9000. The snowmobiles were manufactured in the U.S.A.

CPSC, LPK International Announce Recall of Barstools
LPK International Inc., of Northbrook, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 1,900 barstools. This recall includes 24- inch and 29-inch high, natural wood finish barstools with round seats. The barstools have model numbers 74150 (24-inch) and 75151 (29-inch). The model numbers are printed on a sticker on the underside of the barstool's seat. A circular stamp on the underside of the seat reads, "H.L." and "NOV 2001." Shopko Stores sold the barstools in central and northwest U.S. from January 2002 through March 2002 for about $20. They were assembled in the United States.

CPSC, S&G Enterprises, Inc. Announce Recall of Statue of Liberty Cigarette Lighters
S&G Enterprises of New York, N.Y. is voluntarily recalling about 9,700 Statue of Liberty cigarette lighters. The recalled lighters are dark green, metal, and are in the shape of the Statue of Liberty. The lighter's flame comes out of a hole in the top of the torch. The tablets in her left hand act as the ignition switch when pushed down alongside her body. The lighter distributed by S & G Enterprises, Inc. has the words "New York" embossed in gold. The patent number "6093016" is embossed in the same color as the body of the lighter at the back of the base. The packaging is a blue-gray paper box with a transparent plastic window in the front. "S & G Enterprises" and "Patent 6093016" are printed in black on either side of the packing box. A bar code with the numbers "6 63435 00221 8" and the price "$9.95" is printed on the bottom of the box. The lighters were sold nationwide from May 1999 to May 2001 for $9.95.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Answer Products Inc., of Valencia, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 850 mountain bicycles. The spring and adjuster can separate from the suspension fork and strike the rider, causing injuries.

CPSC, Polaris Industries Inc. Announce Recall of RANGER Off-Road Utility Vehicles and Professional Series Utility Task Vehicles ("UTVs")
Polaris Industries Inc., of Minneapolis, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 7,600 RANGER Off-Road Utility Vehicles and Professional Series Utility Task Vehicles ("UTVs"). Polaris dealers sold these vehicles worldwide from April 2001 through July 2002 for between $6,999 (2x4 model) to $9,949 (6x6 model) depending on the particular model. The RANGERs and UTVs were manufactured in the USA.

CPSC, BCI Burke Announce Recall of Buckle Bridges on Series 2000 Playgrounds
BCI Burke Company, of Fond du Lac, Wis., is recalling 46 Buckle Bridges for repair. These bridges are attached to steel platforms on Series 2000 modular playgrounds. The bridges are made of hinged metal sections and connect one platform to another. BCI Burke sold the Buckle Bridges with the Series 2000 modular playgrounds nationwide from April 2001 to June 2002 for between $2000 and $2900.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc., of Towson, Md., is voluntarily recalling about 950,000 cordless drill/drivers. The drill's switch can malfunction and overheat, posing the possibility of a fire hazard to consumers.

CPSC, Arctic Cat Inc. Announce Recall of All-Terrain Vehicles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Arctic Cat Inc., of Thief River Falls, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 45,000 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The ball joints on the front suspension of these ATVs can fail, resulting in a loss of control. This can cause the ATV to overturn, posing a risk of serious injury or death to riders.

CPSC, Fluke Corp. Announce Recall of Digital Multimeters
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fluke Corp., of Everett, Wash., is voluntarily recalling about 40,000 digital multimeters. About 17,200 were sold in the U.S. Multimeters are used to measure voltage, resistance and current. The recalled units can take longer than normal, up to 18 seconds, to display readings of AC voltages above 500 volts. Users can misinterpret the delayed reading to mean that high voltage is not present. If high voltage is present, users could be exposed to a risk of shock, electrocution, and thermal burns.

CPSC, Bradford White Corporation, Announce Recall of Gas Water Heater
Bradford White Corporation, of Ambler, Pa., is voluntarily recalling 1,220 75-Gallon Power Vented Gas Water Heaters. The recalled water heaters are models: MIITW75T6EN12; MIITW75T6CX12; TW375S76E3N; and TW375S763X with serial number "YD" (all) through YE 1395234. The model and serial numbers are located on the heater rating plate and on the shipping carton label. Bradford White Corporation sold these water heaters to plumbing supply wholesalers from April 2002 to May 2002. The water heaters were manufactured in the United States.

CPSC, Proctor-Silex Announce Recall of Steam Iron
Proctor-Silex of Glen Allen, Va., is voluntarily recalling approximately 970 electric steam irons. The recalled irons (model 17520) are made of purple and white plastic. The "Proctor Silex" trademark is displayed on the side in white letters. The iron was packaged in a white cardboard box with gray lettering, labeled, in part, "EASY PRESS IRON....Model 17520.....Series A1320." The model number 17520 and the series number are located on the back side of the iron, at the bottom. Shopko and Auchan stores sold these irons from May 2002 through June 2002 for about $18. They were manufactured in China.

CPSC, Cavagna North America Inc., Announce Recall of Safety Relief Valves for Large Propane Tanks
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cavagna North America Inc., of Branchburg, N.J., is recalling about 6,100 safety relief valves manufactured by Omeca, of Bresia, Italy. These valves, imported by Cavagna, are designed to relieve excess pressure in large propane tanks, typically the 500- to 1,000-gallon size. The recalled valves can have sharp internal edges that can cut into gasket seals in the valves, causing a propane gas leak. This poses a risk of fire or burn injuries.

CPSC, Excel Industries Inc. Announce Recall of Riding Lawn Mowers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Excel Industries Inc., of Hesston, Kan., is voluntarily recalling about 1,500 Hustler "FasTrak" riding lawn mowers. Excessive heat, vibrations and wear causes the fuel line to droop over time and rub against the transmission fan, causing the fuel line to be cut. This poses a fire hazard and a risk of burn injuries to consumers.

CPSC, MTD Products Inc. Announce Recall of Grass Bags Used On Electric Lawn Mowers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), MTD Products Inc., of Cleveland, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 5,000 grass bag attachments for its 19-inch electric walk-behind lawn mowers. The lawn mowers have a rear-mounted grass bag that does not seal properly to the rear door of the mower, allowing grass and other debris to be thrown out at the top of the bag. This could result in injury to the operator or bystanders.

CPSC, Greenlee Textron Inc. Announce Recall of Electrical Testing Meters
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Greenlee Textron, Inc. (Greenlee), of Rockford, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 650 electrical testing meters. The meters are used to measure voltage and current of electric-powered equipment. An incompatible grommet, located in the battery compartment to protect internal wires, can cause the meter to provide inaccurate voltage and current readings. A meter that inaccurately indicates zero voltage or current creates the potential for electric shock or an electrocution hazard from the equipment being tested.
