Michigan Firm Recalls Beef Products For Possible ContaminationWASHINGTON, Aug. 20, 2003 – Academy Packing Company, Inc., a Dearborn, Mich., firm, is voluntarily recalling 47 pounds of ground beef products that were produced under insanitary conditions, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. The products were produced on August 18, 2003, and distributed to restaurants in the Detroit metropolitan area. Each package bears the establishment number “EST. 2559” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products subject to recall are four 10-lb. boxes of:

FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a physician.
