Texas Firm Recalls Canned Bean Products From Mexico
WASHINGTON, April 9, 2003—Vilore Foods Co., a Laredo, Texas, firm, is
voluntarily recalling an undetermined amount of canned charro beans with
meat that have entered the country improperly, the U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.
The products subject to recall are 14.1 oz. cans of "La Sierra Autentica
Cocina Mexicana CHARRO BEANS." The products were distributed to retail
stores nationwide.
The meat portion of the product originated from an establishment that is
not approved for export to the U.S. These products were not presented to
FSIS for reinspection upon entering the country.
FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of
this product. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a physician.
