Missouri Firm Recalls Beef And Pork Products For
Possible Contamination With Ammonium Compound
WASHINGTON, March 12, 2003--A. A. Hotel &
Restaurant Supply, doing business as Savage Foods,
a St. Louis, Mo., establishment, is voluntarily
recalling approximately 2,400 pounds of fresh beef
and pork products that may be contaminated with a
quaternary ammonium compound (sanitizing
solution), the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s
Food Safety and Inspection Service announced
today.
The
products being recalled are cases of varying
weights bearing the company name "Savage Foods."
The cases also bear a date code of "03/11" or
"03/12" and the establishment code "EST. 2140"
inside the USDA seal of inspection.
The
products were produced on March 11-12, and were
distributed to hotels, restaurants and
institutions in St. Louis.
The
problem was discovered by FSIS personnel during an
inspection of the facility. FSIS has received no
reports of illness associated with this product.

situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use
of the product.
