WASHINGTON, Jan. 23, 2002 – Swift &
Co., a Louisville, Ky., establishment, is voluntarily recalling an
undetermined amount of fresh marinated pork loin products that contain an
undeclared ingredient (hydrolyzed milk protein), the U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.
The products subject to recall are approximately 3 1/2 to 5 pound
packages of "ARMOUR premium MARINATED PORK LOIN HALF, ONION AND
GARLIC." Each package bears the product code "56610" and
the sell by date "USE or FREEZE BY FEB 13" or any prior date.
The package also bears the establishment code "EST. 995" located
inside the USDA seal of inspection.
These products were produced through January 11, 2002.
"We urge consumers to check their refrigerators and
freezers," said Margaret O’K. Glavin, acting FSIS administrator.
"If they find the product listed above, consumers should return them
to the point of purchase."
Swift and Co. identified the problem and notified USDA. No illnesses or
injuries associated with consumption of these products have been reported.
