Issues Voluntary Recall of "Fresh Batch" Candy Cookies Due to Undeclared EggsContact: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Blue Island, IL -- February 24, 2005 -- Parco Foods, L.L.C., Blue Island, Illinois, has issued a voluntary recall of all lots of "Fresh Batch" Candy Cookies, due to the presence of an undeclared allergen. The product is made with a known allergen (eggs), which is not included in the ingredient listing for the product. Persons who have an allergy to eggs run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergenic reaction if they consume this product. The product being recalled is packed in clamshells of 14.4 ounces with a UPC of The product being recalled was shipped to retail stores in the Maryland and the District of Columbia. No illnesses or allergenic reactions have been reported. Consumers who have purchased this product should return it to the retailer for a full refund. Consumers with questions about the recall may call Parco Foods, L.L.C. at 1-888-371-9200 ext. 147. The problem was discovered through an internal audit. In the future, the product will be distributed with the correct ingredient listing. Parco Foods, L.L.C. is taking this voluntary action to ensure the safety of its consumers and is working closely with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration in the recall process.
