CPSC, Random House, Inc. Announce Recall of Children's Board Book Sets
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Random House Inc., of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 360,000 children's board book sets. The book sets were sold in cardboard boxes with plastic snaps. The plastic snaps can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

CPSC, The Betesh Group Announce Recall of "Busy Bug" Plush Toys
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Betesh Group of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 11,200 "Busy Bug" plush toys. The antennae of the plush toy can be chewed or pulled off, posing a choking hazard to young children.

CPSC, The First Years® Inc. Announce New Safety Instructions to Prevent Injuries for Combo Baby Tubs/Step Stools
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The First Years Inc., of Avon, Mass., is providing a new instruction sheet for 120,000 "2-In-1 Fold-Away Tub and Step Stools." When used as a tub, babies' body parts can be pinched if the product's footrest is not fully extended so that it clicks into place firmly.

CPSC, BRIO Corp. Announce Recall of Toy Trumpet
The BRIO Corp., of Germantown, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 4,000 Ambi Bird Trumpet toys. The red and blue trumpets are about 5-inches long with a yellow bird attached to the top. A yellow knob on the side of the trumpet spins the bird. The words "Ambi Toys" are engraved on the side of the trumpet. Back to Basics Toys, a mail order catalog, sold the trumpets nationwide from September 2001 through November 2002 for about $13.

CPSC, Playnation Play Systems Announce Recall of "Fun Buckets" on Backyard Play Sets
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Playnation Play Systems of Kennesaw, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 1,400 "Fun Buckets," a vinyl bucket attached to a rope used to lift small items up to backyard play sets' forts. As children play on the play set's slide or platform, the 6- to 8-ft free- hanging rope can become entangled around the child's neck. This presents a strangulation hazard to young children.

CPSC, Fireworks of Alabama Announce Recall of Bamboo-Stick Sparklers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fireworks of Alabama, Inc. of Adamsville, Ala., is voluntarily recalling about 72,000 boxes of bamboo stick sparklers. The sparklers' bamboo-stick handles can catch fire, burn and disintegrate and emit burning fragments during use. These sparklers present a fire hazard and a risk of burn injury.

CPSC, Robert Bosch Tool Corp. Announce Recall of Skil® Warrior Drill Battery Chargers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Robert Bosch Tool Corp., of Chicago, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 2 million Skil® Warrior drill battery chargers. The transformer inside the charger can overheat. If this occurs, the charger housing can melt and deform, possibly igniting flammable materials near or on the charger.

CPSC, Toro Company Recall Z-100 Riding Mowers
The Toro Company, of Bloomington, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 400 zero turn riding lawn mowers. The model number can be found on a silver identification plate attached to the frame of the lawn mower near the right hand drive wheel. Authorized Toro dealers sold these mowers nationwide from August 2001 through August 2002, with a manufacturer's suggested retail between $8306 and $8528.

CPSC, Exmark Recalls Lazer HP Riding Mowers
Exmark Manufacturing of Beatrice, Nebraska is voluntarily recalling about 1500 riding lawn mowers. The model and serial number can be found on an aluminum plate riveted to the unit chassis below and to the rear of the deck lift lever pivot point on the right side of the unit. Authorized Exmark dealers sold these mowers nationwide from August 2001 through August 2002, for between $6,600 and $7,000.

CPSC, Young's J.K. Inc. Announce Recall of Novelty Lighters
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Young's J.K. Inc., of Portland, Ore., is voluntarily recalling about 500 novelty cigarette lighters. These lighters do not have child-resistant mechanisms, as required by federal law. Young children can ignite the lighters, presenting fire and burn hazards.

CPSC, Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. Announce Recall of ATVs
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. (KMC) of Irvine, Calif., is voluntarily recalling 732 of the 2003 model year All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The Kawasaki "KFX50" is a small four-wheel ATV designed for use by adult-supervised children 6 years of age or older. They are lime green and have "Kawasaki" written on the front, rear, and both sides. Kawasaki dealers sold these ATVs nationwide from August 2002 through January 2003 for about $1799.

CPSC, Eton America Announce Recall of Youth All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)
Eton America LLC's of Spartanburg, S.C., is voluntarily recalling about 1400 four-wheel drive all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The recalled 2003 model ATVs are red, yellow and black. They have the brand name "Viper Jr" written on both sides of the front chassis. These are small ATVs intended for children between ages 6 and 12. Dealerships nationwide sold these ATVs from August 2002 through January 2003 for $1500.

CPSC, Thomas & Betts Announce Recall of Emergency Exit Signs
Thomas & Betts Corporation of Memphis, TN, is voluntarily recalling about 31,000 emergency exit signs. The recalled exit signs were sold under the Lightalarms, Emergi-Lite, and Dynaray brand names and can be installed in either 120-volt or 277-volt applications. Only signs with a red LED and installed in 277-volt applications need to be repaired. These emergency exit signs could be installed in public buildings such as schools, offices and shopping centers to mark an exit in the event of a power failure and loss of lighting. They have a white or black plastic housing and are 13 1/2- inches long, 8 3/8-inches high and 2 7/8-inches deep. Recalled units have a raised bead around the edge of the front face and a rectangular rocker switch on the bottom. The product make, model, and date code is located on a label inside the enclosure. The recalled emergency exit signs were manufactured between January 1997 and June 1999 and sold nationwide by electrical wholesalers and distributors for between $75 and $80.

CPSC, Trak Inc. Announce Recall of Snowshoe Bindings
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Trak Inc., doing business as Karhu Inc., of Burlington, Vt., is voluntarily recalling about 420 snowshoe bindings. Screws and other hardware used to keep the bindings intact are too short, causing the binding to separate from the shoe. This poses a fall hazard to consumers.

CPSC, UWATEC AG Announce Recall of 1995 Aladin Air X NitrOx Dive Computers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), UWATEC AG, of Hallwil, Switzerland, is voluntarily recalling about 390 dive computers manufactured in 1995 and sold under the model name Aladin Air X NitrOx. Software in the dive computers may inaccurately calculate desaturation times, resulting in possible decompression sickness under aggressive dive conditions.
