CPSC, Southern Living At HOME Announce Recall of Tea Light Candles

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Fern Warm Comforts Tea Light Candles

Units: 3,480

Manufacturer: The candles were manufactured for Southern Living At HOME, a direct selling company, by Candle-lite, of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Problem: Some of these tea light candles from one production run can burn with a high flame, due to contamination.

Incidents/Injuries: Southern Living At HOME has received one report of high flame. There are no reported injuries.

Description: This alert is only for consumers who purchased Item Number 40491 (the item number is located on the side of the packaging below the logo), an eight pack of Fern Warm Comforts tea light candles, after October 26, 2004. The tea light candles are green and come in a plastic holder. Candles purchased prior to October 26, 2004 are not affected by this alert.

Manufactured in: Macau

Sold at: Southern Living At HOME consultants sold these candles at home parties nationwide from October 26, 2004 through March 1, 2005 for about $7.

Remedy: Southern Living At HOME will notify consumers who purchased the recalled candles directly and will receive a free replacement candle set.
