June 8, 2005 - Shindaiwa Inc. Recall of Gas-Powered Hedge Trimmers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shindaiwa Inc., of Tualatin, Ore., is voluntarily recalling about 25,000 Shindaiwa Gas-Powered Professional Hedge Trimmers. The heat from the hedge trimmer’s muffler can damage the fuel tank, cause a fuel leak and create a fire hazard.
February 11, 2005- Stihl Inc. Recall of Multi-Task Tools
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Stihl Inc., of Virginia Beach, Va. is recalling about 45,000 KombiSystem Multi-Task Tools. An internal clip may become dislodged and as a result, the clutch shoes could be projected from the clutch housing and strike consumers, posing the risk of injury.
June 29, 2004- Echo Inc. Recall of Gas-Powered Hand Tools
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Echo Inc., of Lake Zurich, Ill.is voluntarily recalling about 540,000 Echo-brand grass trimmers, brush cutters, hedge clippers, power blowers and power edgers. The fuel lines on these tools can develop an “alligator surface” appearance which could develop into a condition that will allow leakage of gasoline and fuel vapor, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
April 15, 2004- Shindaiwa Inc. Recall of Hedge Trimmers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shindaiwa Inc., of Tualatin, Ore., is voluntarily recalling Gasoline-Powered Professional Hedge Trimmers. The muffler’s retaining bolts can allow the muffler to come loose from the engine while the hedge trimmer is in operation. A loose muffler can contact and damage the fuel tank creating a fire hazard. More than 59,000 Shindaiwa hedge trimmers were recalled in October 2003 because of a leaking fuel cap.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shindaiwa Inc., of Tualatin, Ore. is voluntarily recalling professional hedge trimmers. The fuel cap on the hedge trimmer can leak, posing a fire and burn hazard.

October 9, 1997- Gasoline Hedge Trimmers Recalled by Husqvarna
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Husqvarna Forest & Garden Co. of Charlotte, N.C.,is recalling approximately 1,800 Husqvarna-brand gasoline hedge trimmers. The screws holding the gearcase to the crankcase on these hedge trimmers can loosen, allowing the clutch to be exposed. If the clutch is exposed, loose internal parts could fly out striking the operator and bystanders.
