May 11, 1999- Tru-Burn Portable LP Gas Grills Recalled by Kmart
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kmart Corporation, of Troy, Mich., is recalling about 40,000 Tru-Burn Portable LP Gas Grills. The burner manifold connection can separate during use, resulting in a flame outside the grill which could burn consumers and ignite nearby combustibles.

In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Rotarex Inc. of Mt.Pleasant, Pa., and Worthington Cylinder Corp. of Columbus,Ohio, are recalling about 6,000 Worthington gas grillcylinders to repair their valves. The valve handles on thesecylinders can loosen and separate from the rest of the valveand cylinder, releasing propane vapors. The vapors couldcatch on fire or explode if ignited, and if the vaporscontact skin, consumers could suffer a freeze burn orfrostbite.

The heating element in thegrill's base can become dislodged, melting the grill'splastic base.
