October 20, 1998- Stuffed Animal Recall & Repair Bi-fold Doors
Two safety recalls were conducted by firmsin cooperation with the CPSC. Great American Toy Co. Inc.,of Port Washington, N.Y., is recalling about 18,700 stuffedcrabs. The crab's antennaes have sharp wires, presentinga puncture wound hazard to children. Schweiss Distributing Co., ofFairfax, Minn., is recalling to repair approximately 500 bottom-operated, bi-fold doors. The doors lack a safety shield which could allow door operators and bystanders to become entrapped in movingdoor parts, such as the drive drums and cables, causingserious injuries such as amputations and fractures.
May 30, 1995- Porcelain Door Knobs Recalled by Gainsborough Hardware Industries
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Gainsborough Hardware Industries of Norcross, Ga., is recalling 8,000 Empire Style Metaline 600 Series porcelain door knob sets. The door knobs may crack or break during use resulting in hand lacerations.
