May 15,1997- Metal Cribs Recalled by Coaster Company of America
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), Coaster Company of America Inc. of Santa Fe Springs,Calif., is recalling 1,856 full-size metal baby cribs. There are twomodels of cribs being recalled. The cribs pose entrapment or chokinghazards to babies that could lead to serious injury or death.

These cribs do not comply withsafety standards and pose strangulation and entrapment hazards toinfants.

In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Welsh Juvenile Products ofSt. Louis, Mo., is recalling and replacing between 5,000and 7,000 crib side rails that have missing or loosespindles. A child's head can get caught in the loosespindles or the space left by missing spindles, presentingan entrapment hazard.

A child's head can get caught inthe loose or missing slats, presenting an entrapment hazard.
