October 16, 1996- Wood Tilter Chair Recalled by Global Industries
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), Global Industries Inc. of Marlton, N.J., is announcinga voluntary recall of about 2,500 Wood Tilter chairs sold primarilythrough Staples between July 15, 1996, and October 5, 1996. The seat maybreak when pressure is exerted on the backrest, which could result in theoccupant falling from the chair.

In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Golden Chair of Houlka,Miss., and Allen Manufacturing of Benton, Tenn., areannouncing the recall of about 142,000 recliner chairsbecause small children can get trapped or strangle in therecliners.
December 26, 1995- Recliner Chair Recalled by Astro-Lounger Furniture
In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Astro-Lounger FurnitureManufacturing Company Inc., of Houkla, Miss., is recallingapproximately 1,000 recliner chairs. The space between thechair's seat and foot rest, measuring 6.75 inches, does notmeet voluntary industry standards. The space is large enoughto entrap a child's head and strangle the child.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer ProductSafety Commission (CPSC), the Kmart Corporation of Troy, Mich.,is recalling 148,990 desk chairs. The chair's seat post mayunexpectedly separate from the pedestal base, causingsomeone sitting in the chair to fall.
