May 13, 2004- DK Publishing Recall of Children’s Board Books with Sound Maker
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DK Publishing Inc., of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling children’s board books with sound makers. The sound maker mounted inside a plastic covering on the last page of the books poses a choking hazard to young children if removed.
April 20, 2004- Kids II Recall of Children’s Mirror Books
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kids II Inc., of Alpharetta, Ga., is voluntarily recalling vinyl mirror books. The mirror in the books can crack or break, posing a laceration hazard to young children.
March 30, 2004- Kingfisher Publications Recall of Children’s Easter Books
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kingfisher Publications PLC, a UK-based subsidiary of Houghton Mifflin Company, of Boston, Mass., is voluntarily recalling "My Easter Basket" Books. A sponge “touch-and-feel” item inside the book can detach or small pieces can be torn away, posing a choking hazard to young children.
November 7, 2003- Advantage Publishers Group Recall of Children’s Activity Books
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Advantage Publishers Group, of San Diego, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 5,300 “Amazing Baby Listen and Play” activity books. The hub of the pink dial embedded in the inside back cover can come off during use in some of these books, posing a choking hazard to young children.
October 15, 2003- "Candle and Soap Making For Dummies" Instruction Book Recalled by John Wiley & Sons Inc.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), John Wiley & Sons Inc., of Hoboken, N.J. is voluntarily recalling 5,400 "Candle and Soap Making For Dummies" Books. The instructions in the book for making lye combine sodium hydroxide and water in an incorrect order. This could cause the mixture to bubble over, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
September 17, 2003- Children's Books Recalled by Simon & Schuster
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Apothecary Products Inc., of Burnsville, Minn., is voluntarily recalling 26,000 Dora the Explorer Children's Board Book. A plastic replica of a balloon attached to the book can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
February 27, 2003- Children's Board Book Sets Recalled by Random House, Inc.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Random House Inc., of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 360,000 children's board book sets. The book sets were sold in cardboard boxes with plastic snaps. The plastic snaps can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

February 12, 2002- Disney Children's Book Group Recall of Children's Book
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Disney Children's Book Group, LLC, also known as Disney Press, of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 5,180 Zowie's 123 children's books. The books have a plastic abacus-like toy attached to the back cover that contains five plastic beads. The beads can separate from the book cover, posing a choking hazard to young children.
November 6, 2001- Candlewick Press Recalls Children's Board Books
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Candlewick Press of Cambridge, Mass., is recalling about 78,670 "Bunny My Honey" children's board books printed in Italy. The plastic lamination on the board book may peel off, posing a choking hazard for young children.
JUNE 19, 1997- Chinese Jump Ropes Recall by Klutz
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), Klutz Inc. of Palo Alto, Calif., isoffering to replace the Chinese jump ropes sold with about 66,000children's activity books by Anne Akers Johnson entitled "Chinese JumpRope," distributed by Klutz. The ends of the elasticized ropes are joinedtogether by metal crimps that may fail in use. Children using the ropes orstanding nearby can be hit by an end of the rope as it snapsback.
May 15, 1996- "Color 'N Contrast Crib Book" Recalled by Penguin USA
September 7, 1995- "Splish Splash" & "Fuzz & Fur" Books Recalled by Chronicle Books
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Chronicle Books of San Francisco, Calif., is voluntarily recalling two of its titles: "Splish Splash" and "Fuzz & Fur" books. CPSC has tested the books and determined that their plastic binder bolts may separate, presenting a choking hazard to young children.
