WASHINGTON, Nov. 5, 2002—Lone Star Food Service, Ltd., an Austin, Texas,
firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 2,800 pounds of beef products
that were mislabeled, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and
Inspection Service announced today. The product labels do not list
hydrolyzed corn protein as an ingredient in the bacon used to wrap the beef
products.
The products were produced between Oct. 2 and
Nov. 1 and distributed to hotels, restaurants and institutions in Texas.
The products being recalled are boxes containing:
- 8-ounce packages of "CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF BACON WRAPPED CHOP STE"
bearing the code "Cust# 606."
- 8-ounce packages of "CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF BACON WRAP TENDERLOIN"
bearing the code "Cust# 886."
- 8-ounce packages of "CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF LOIN FILLET BACON WRAPPED"
bearing the code "Cust# 515."
- 7-ounce packages of "BEEF TENDERLOIN BACON WRAPPED" bearing the code "Cust#
585."
- 8-ounce packages of "BEEF TENDERLOINS BACON WRAPPED" bearing the code
"Cust# 586."
- 6-ounce packages of "CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF BANDERA BACON WRAP FILLET"
bearing the code "Cust# 1002."
- 7-ounce packages of "CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF TENDERLOIN B/W" bearing the
code "Cust# 1965."
- 6-ounce packages of "CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF TENDERLOIN B/W" bearing the
code "Cust# 493."
Each box label also bears the establishment code
"EST. 2274" inside the USDA seal of inspection.
"FSIS wants consumers to be aware of the recall,"
said Dr. Garry L. McKee, FSIS administrator.
The problem was discovered by routine FSIS
inspection.
