Ohio Firm Recalls Chicken Nuggets For Possible Contamination With PlasticWASHINGTON, Dec. 17, 2001 – Luigino’s, Inc., a Jackson, Ohio establishment, is voluntarily recalling approximately 202,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets that may be contaminated with plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. The products were packaged between Nov. 6 and Dec. 5, and were distributed to retail stores nationwide and exported to Canada. The product distributed nationwide is 5.5-ounce boxes of "Michelina’s Zap’ems CHICKEN LITTLES." The back of each box bears one of the following product identification codes: "J1310N8," "J1312D8," "J1330D8," "J1323D8," "J1331D8," or "J1339D8." The product exported to Canada is 5.5-ounce boxes "Michelina’s Zap’ems FRIES and CHICKEN NUGGETS." The back of each box bears one of the following product identification codes: "J1310D8," "J1312N8," "J1320D8," "J1320N8," "J1316D8," or "J1339N8." The front of each box bears the establishment number "P-18297" on the label inside the USDA seal of inspection. "We urge consumers to check their freezers," said Margaret O’K. Glavin, FSIS acting administrator. "If they find any of the recalled products, consumers should not eat them, but return them to the point of purchase." Luigino’s, Inc. notified FSIS of the problem. No injuries have been reported. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a physician.
