Louisiana Plant Recalls Chicken For UnderprocessingWASHINGTON, Sept. 28, 2001—ConAgra Poultry Company, a Farmerville, La., plant, is voluntarily recalling approximately 18,000 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat chicken because the product may have been underprocessed, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. The products were produced on July 30, Aug. 1 and Aug. 3, 2001 and bear the establishment number “EST. P-13485A” on the case. Products and identifying codes are as follows:
These products were distributed to the institutional level nationwide. The problem was discovered by a restaurant and reported to ConAgra. “Because of the potential for foodborne illness, we want consumers to be aware of the recall,” said Margaret O’K. Glavin, FSIS acting administrator. “Diners may wish to ask if their meal contains the recalled products.” No illnesses or injuries associated with consumption of these products have been reported.
