Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in ProductContact: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE --Buena Park, CA -- May 4, 2005--- Walong Marketing, Inc. of Buena Park, CA is recalling ”Asian Taste” brand and “Sinbo” brand “Chinese Red Berry” because the products may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The recalled Asian Taste Chinese Red Berry was sold in a clear, uncoded, 8 oz plastic package. The recalled Sinbo Chinese Red Berry was sold in a clear, uncoded, 13 oz plastic package. The products were imported from China and sold to retail stores throughout the United States. The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets testing revealed the presence of undeclared sulfites in Asian Taste and Sinbo brand Chinese Red Berry in packages which did not declare sulfites on the label. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfites sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. Consumers who have purchased Asian Taste or Sinbo brand Chinese Red Berry should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Retailers who have these products should pull the products from store shelves until provided further instruction by Walong Marketing, Inc.
