FDA does not endorse either the product or the company. Salton, Inc. Announces a Nationwide Recall of Approximately 2,700 Russell Hobbs® Mona Cordless Jug Kettles Due to Possible Lead Risk
Contact : FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE --CHICAGO, IL -- February 18, 2005 -- Salton, Inc. announces the following voluntary recall. Consumers should immediately stop using the Russell Hobbs® Mona Cordless Jug Kettle, Model No. RHMK3022, and contact Salton, Inc. for instructions on how to return the product and receive a replacement product. Salton, Inc. of Lake Forest, IL, is voluntarily recalling approximately 2,700 Russell Hobbs® Mona Cordless Jug Kettles, Model No. RHMK 3022, manufactured by Chiaphua Industries Limited, due to their alleged ability to leach lead. Lead exposure may cause serious injury to infants and young children. To date, Salton, Inc. has only received notice of one such consumer complaint. The only affected kettles are the Russell Hobbs® Mona Cordless Jug Kettles, Model No. RHMK 3022, shipped in limited quantities only during the period between July 2002 through October 2004. The affected kettles are 10 inches in height, are silver in color, and were sold in the United States through Bloomingdales and Bed Bath & Beyond, through Salton, Inc.'s online store and some of Salton, Inc.'s outlet stores, and through various e-tailers during that same period of time. Monday, February 21, 2004, consumers in possession of a Russell Hobbs® Mona Cordless Jug Kettle should contact Salton, Inc.'s 24-hour Consumer Relations Department at 800-233-9054.
