Consumer Alert: Undeclared Peanuts in "An Ching Sweet Ball"Contact: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Brooklyn, NY -- February 24, 2005 -- State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers announced today that New China Market, Inc., 5114 8th Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11220 is recalling certain "An Ching Sweet Ball" because it contains undeclared peanut allergens. People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The recalled product, "An Ching Sweet Ball" is packaged in 400-gram plastic bags with Chinese writing and no apparent code. "An Ching Sweet Ball" was sold in the New York City area. The problem was discovered as a result of routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by the Department's Food Laboratory personnel. No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this problem. Consumers who have purchased "An Ching Sweet Ball" are urged to return them to New China Market, Inc. |
