CPSC, Stihl Inc. Announce Recall of Chain Saws
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Stihl Inc., or Virginia Beach, Va., is voluntarily recalling approximately 13,000 chain saws. In some units, the fuel tank vent could be installed incorrectly and become dislodged. If this occurs, fuel could leak and result in a fire.

CPSC, Conceptual Marketing & Development, Inc., Announce Recall of Weed Cutting Attachment Blades
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Conceptual Marketing & Development Inc., of Lincoln, Calif., is voluntarily recalling approximately 1.1 million metal blades for their model 4650 weed cutting attachment. The blades can break off and hit consumers causing severe impact and laceration injuries.

CPSC, Starbucks Coffee Co. Announce Recall of Children's Tumbler Cups
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Starbucks Coffee Co., of Seattle, Wash., is voluntarily recalling approximately 38,000 plastic Bearista™ Bear tumbler cups. When the flexible straw on the cups is chewed, small pieces of plastic can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

CPSC, Central Sprinkler Company Update Voluntary Recall To Replace O-Ring Fire Sprinklers
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Central Sprinkler Company, an affiliate of Tyco Fire Products LP, of Lansdale, Pa., are announcing a modification to the voluntary replacement program announced on July 19, 2001. The company is replacing 35 million Central fire sprinklers that have O-ring seals. The program also includes a limited number of O-ring models sold by Gem Sprinkler Company and Star Sprinkler, Inc. totaling about 167,000 sprinkler heads. Under the original recall program, consumers were required to use Central contractors. Now, after notifying Central in advance and completing certain forms, consumers also can hire their own contractors and be reimbursed for all or some of the labor charges.

CPSC, Monarch Velo, LLC doing business as Catlike USA Announce Recall of Bike Helmets
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Monarch Velo, LLC, doing business as Catlike USA, of Houston, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 2,250 Catlike Kompact™ bike helmets. The helmets fail impact testing required under CPSC's safety standard for bicycle helmets, violating the Consumer Product Safety Act.

CPSC, Lane Furniture Industries Inc. Announce Recall of High-Leg Recliner Chairs
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lane Furniture Industries Inc., of Tupelo, Miss., is voluntarily recalling about 620,000 high-leg recliner chairs. A mechanism in the footrest can create a pinch point that can cause injury if consumers open or recline the chair by reaching underneath the footrest.

CPSC, Swimways Corp. Announce Recall of Pool Dive Sticks
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Swimways Corp., of Virginia Beach, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 25,000 packages of dive sticks (each package contains four dive sticks), which fail to meet the commission’s safety requirements. Children can fall or land on these dive sticks in shallow water and may suffer impalement injuries.

CPSC, Weil-McLain Announce Recall of Ultra 155 & 230 Gas Boilers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Weil-McLain Company of Michigan City, Ind. is voluntarily recalling about 1,700 Gas Boilers. The gas valve mounting screws on the recalled boilers may have not been fully tightened during the assembly process and may have come loose in transportation. Weil-McLain is concerned that loose gas fittings could result in leaking gas, fire and/or explosions that could cause bodily injuries or property damage.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Amen Wardy Home, of Las Vegas, Nev., is voluntarily recalling about 2,400 multi-purpose lighters shaped like matchsticks. The lighters lack child-resistant mechanisms that meet federal safety standards. Young children could operate these lighters, which poses a fire hazard.

CPSC, Baby's Dream Furniture Inc. Announce Recall to Repair Cribs
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Baby's Dream Furniture Inc., of Buena Vista, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 4,600 wooden convertible cribs manufactured from January to August 2001 to repair hinges on the drop gate. The three hinges along the fold-down drop gate can crack or break and allow babies to have their fingers pinched. Baby's Dream has received 38 reports of broken or cracked hinges, but there have been no injuries reported.

CPSC, DCD Incorporated Announce Recall of Exercisers
DCD Incorporated of Malibu, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 9,500 Ab Swing exercise units. The Ab Swing is a manual exercise unit, primarily intended for abdominal exercise. It is gray steel, with red seat and handlebars with black grips. The Ab Swing weighs approximately 18 pounds, and sits about 2 feet off the ground. The word "abswing" is printed on the front of the seat and the phrase "Made in Malaysia" is printed on a tag on the back of the seat. Units that contain the phrase "Made in China" are not included in this recall. Home Shopping Network (HSN) sold the exercise units in September 2002 for about $89.
