CPSC, The Holmes Group Expands Recall of Slow Cookers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Holmes Group, of Milford, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 2.6 million Rival Slow Cookers. The handles on the base of the slow cookers can break, posing a risk of burns from hot contents spilling onto consumers. These Rival® Slow Cookers, sold from January 1999 through May 2002, were previously recalled for the same hazard. The recall has now been expanded to include all units manufactured before September 2004.

CPSC, Sportcraft Announce Recall of Treadmills
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sportcraft Ltd., of Mt. Olive, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 12,000 Tredex 6.0, TX 440 and TX 550 Treadmills. The treadmill can unexpectedly accelerate and cause users to fall and sustain injuries.

CPSC, American Suzuki Motor Corp. Announce Recall of ATVs
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Suzuki Motor Corp., of Brea, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 3,400 Suzuki 2004-2005 TwinPeaks™ All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). A significant impact to the front wheel of the ATV while the steering is fully turned to either side can result in suspension damage, wear, and an eventual loss of steering control that could result in injury or death.

CPSC, Polaris Industries Announce Recall of 900 Fusion, 900 RMK, and 900 Switchback Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 7,800 Polaris “900 Fusion” “900 RMK” and “900 Switchback” Snowmobiles. There are three separate issues involved in this safety Safety Recalls, The nut that fastens the upper control arm ball joint to the suspension spindle can loosen. If this occurs, continued operation could allow the spindle to break and release the upper control arm, posing a risk of loss of control of the vehicle. The fuel tanks can contact the chassis along the bulkheads leading to wear on the tank walls. This could pose a fuel leakage and possible fire hazard to consumers. The gasket sealing the fuel pump assembly to the tank can develop cracks. This poses a risk of fuel leakage and fire hazard to consumers.

CPSC, Fourstar Group Announce Recall to Repair Kid’s Folding Chairs
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fourstar Group Inc., of Hopkinton, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 522,000 Kid's Folding Chairs. The chair’s safety lock can fail, allowing the chair to collapse or fold unexpectedly. Children’s fingers can become caught or entrapped in the hinge and slot areas of the chair, posing a pinch or cut hazard. This can cause severe lacerations and finger tip amputations to children’s fingers.

The tips of the clickers, which make a clicking sound when the Walker Wagon wheels move, can break off. The broken clickers pose a choking or aspiration hazard to young children.

CPSC, Kidde Announce Recall of Industrial Fire Extinguishers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Walter Kidde Portable Equipment Inc., of Mebane, N.C., is voluntarily recalling about 470,000 Kidde 10 lb. industrial dry chemical fire extinguishers with black plastic Zytel® nylon valves in steel cylinders manufactured between 1991 and 2000. The nylon valves on these extinguishers can separate from the steel cylinder during the 6-year recharge service or shortly afterwards creating a safety hazard to fire extinguisher service personnel and consumers.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dorel Juvenile Group, of Columbus, Ind., announced a warning today for parents and caregivers who purchased the Safety 1st Tubside Bath Seats. The company has sold about 250,000 units to date. The bath seats are not intended and should not be used with certain non-traditional or sunken bathtubs. In these types of tubs, the bath seat can break, tip over and a child can fall into the water.
