CPSC, Firms Announce Recalls of Backpack Blowers and Children's Wands
This press release consists of two recalls. Please choose the appropriate recall below.
- Backpack Blowers recalled by STIHL Inc.
STIHL Inc., of Virginia Beach, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 890 backpack blowers. The recalled blowers have a model number of BR 420C and a serial number in the following
ranges: 47988257 through 47989256 and 49014561 through 49015560. The name, "STIHL," and the model number, BR 420C, appear on the starter. The serial number is printed right above the starter. The backpack blowers were sold through STIHL dealers in California between November
2000 and January 2001 for about $400.
- Light and Glitter Wands recalled by Meijer Inc.
Meijer Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., is voluntarily recalling about 5,000 "All That Glitters" light and glitter wands. The "All That Glitters" light and glitter wand is about
9-inches long, and has a gold-colored handle with a clear plastic ball on top filled with a pink liquid and glitter. Pushing on the bottom of the wand illuminates the ball. The wand operates with two AA-batteries. A plastic label on the side of the wand reads, "AA x2." Meijer stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio sold these wands from
January 2000 through January 2001 for between $2 and $4.
