CPSC, Firms Announce Recall of Christmas Lights/Christmas Trees

This press release consists of four recalls. Please choose the appropriate recall below.

  • Christmas Lights Recalled by GEM Stores

    GEM Stores, of Jamaica, N.Y., is recalling 50,000 sets of miniature Christmas lights and icicle-style lights. The lights are flashing, steady burning or chasing light in various colors and they were made in China. The lights were sold in GEM stores throughout New York from November 2000 to December 2000. A "GEM STORES" orange price sticker is affixed to each box.

  • Christmas Lights Recalled by Sun Sun Industries

    Sun Sun Industries Inc., of Carlstadt, N.J., is recalling 12,000 sets of miniature Christmas lights. The recalled lights are sets of 100 miniature lights in various colors that are steady burning or flashing. The red box reads in part, "100 MINIATURE LIGHTS, MADE IN CHINA, IMPORTED BY SUN SUN INDUSTRIES, INC." A Christmas tree is on the box. The lights were sold in M&S Bargain Hunter stores throughout New York from October 2000 to December 2000 for about $2.

  • Christmas Lights Recalled by Pioneer Paper Co.

    Pioneer Paper Co., of Brooklyn, N.Y., is recalling about 2,600 sets of musical and miniature Christmas lights. The recalled lights are sets of 100 musical lights and sets of 100 miniature lights. Both light sets come in various colors that are steady burning or flashing. The musical lights play eight melodies. The white box reads in part, "VALUE, 100 LIGHTS, MADE IN CHINA." Stars are on the box. The lights were sold at discount stores throughout New York from September 2000 to December 2000 for about $6.

  • Christmas Trees Recalled by Walgreen

    Walgreen Co., of Deerfield, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 9,000 artificial Christmas trees with fiber optic lights. The trees are 3 feet tall and are decorated with fiber optic lights, candles, and a star topper. The lights change from purple, to red, to yellow, to green to blue. The tree stand is gold decorated with a ribbon and holly motif. They were sold in a cardboard box labeled in part, "Professional Series Fiber Optic 3 ft. Tree." A picture of the tree appears on the front of the box. Walgreens nationwide sold the trees this holiday season for about $40.
